Student Leadership
Lead. Inspire. Grow.
The leadership program at Westall Secondary College provides students from all year levels the opportunity to develop and enhance their leadership skills through several different roles and responsibilities that includes College Captains and Vice Captains, House Captains, Peer Support Leaders, Student Representative Council (SRC) membership and as School Council Representatives.
This dynamic Student Leadership model represents the views of a cross section of students from different year levels, cultures, backgrounds and talents. This broad spectrum of views and values enhances the understanding of the issues that are important to young people. Each Student Leadership Team meets at least twice a term.
The benefits of students being actively involved in leadership include:
- Confidence in public speaking.
- Builds on skills learnt in the classroom.
- Opportunities to develop the skills to create, implement and lead whole school initiatives.
- Participation/engagement in what happens within the school and its community.
- Student voice in decision making at the school level.
Students interested in being a part of the school’s student leadership team are required to formally apply through both written and in person interview to be considered.
